Crown Perth needed to install data equipment outdoors in a car park environment, where heat and dust posed serious challenges. The setup had to:

• Protect against extreme temperatures, especially during Perth’s summer, where outdoor temperatures can exceed 40°C.
• Prevent dust buildup, which could clog vents and damage sensitive electronics.
• Ensure continuous power, as interruptions could lead to data loss or system failures.
  

In short, the solution had to be compact, durable, and self-sustaining.

To address these challenges, PSS designed a custom outdoor rack solution, built for long-term durability in harsh conditions. The system included:

• An IP55-rated enclosure offering full protection from dust, moisture, and heat exposure.
• An 800W air conditioning unit that maintains a stable temperature to prevent overheating.
• A 3kVA UPS with lithium batteries for reliable power backup and uninterrupted performance.
  

The enclosure was engineered to maintain consistent cooling efficiency, even under direct sunlight and extreme outdoor conditions.

The outdoor rack successfully stabilised internal temperatures at 22°C, even when external conditions reached 40°C. The system provided:

• Continuous data protection for a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Significant heat resistance, preventing failures due to overheating.
• Long-term operational security, reducing the risk of dust or power-related disruptions.
