Mining accommodations, known as Dongas, require high-quality, durable equipment that can withstand extreme conditions while ensuring problem-free infrastructure integration. A mining project across Western Australia and the Northern Territory needed custom-built wall-mounted units with specific design requirements, all within tight production deadlines.

The challenge was twofold:

1. Precision Engineering – The units needed to meet strict size and mounting specifications to fit within existing infrastructure.
2. Fast Turnaround – The client required rapid production to align with installation deadlines across multiple sites.
   

PSS Distributors designed and manufactured 130 mild steel wall-mounted 12RU units. The solution included:

• Compact 450 mm depth design, optimising space efficiency.
• Sunshields for outdoor durability (protecting equipment from harsh mining conditions).
• Sliding and fixed shelves for accessibility and flexibility.
• 19” mounting profiles with front and rear rails for secure installation.
  

To meet the demanding lead times, PSS initiated a strategic batch production approach:

• First batch of 20 units completed within 2.5 weeks.
• Full order of 130 units finalised in 8 weeks.
• Later batches (84 units) incorporated modifications, such as an enlarged cable entry plate to accommodate evolving customer needs.
  

The custom wall-mounted units were swiftly and professionally deployed across mining accommodations in WA & NT between 2022 and 2023.
